In this text, through the examination of three initiatives (the European Citizens’ Initiative tool, the Regulation on Transparency and Targeting of Political Advertising, and the European Media Freedom Act), we illustrate how the EU addresses contemporary challenges to the democratic system. The text demonstrates that the EU remains capable of effectively responding to threats to its fundamental values.
